Whether you're fairly new to Actionscript or a very experienced programmer, you'll add an array of graphical coding techniques to your arsenal.

DAY 1 - Papervision3D

3D Flash websites are still massively in demand, and you'll learn the fastest way to get started with this popular 3D ActionScript library.

We'll start with the basics, showing you how easy it is to set up a Papervision project in 20 seconds! Then give you a solid grounding in the basics, including materials, shaders, reflections and importing 3D models. And, just as you'd expect from Seb, we'll be looking at depth of field particles, and super easy augmented reality using the FLARTookit and SimplAR library.

We will also examine several case studies, including Big and Small for BBC and Staraoke for Cartoon Network. 

You'll take away ready-to-go source code for importing models and changing their materials at run-time, several cool interactive 3D interfaces, particle effects, a 3D pong game, and several FLARToolkit projects, PLUS optimisation techniques such as selective rendering!


DAY 2 - Flash games and interactivity


Put the fun back into Flash with this brand new 1 day game programming course suitable for beginners or advanced Flash programmers alike. 

We'll give you the base code for many game engines including Space Invaders, Asteroids, a top down driving game, 3D soccer shootout and a platform game engine, as well as a simple framework for putting your apps together. 

Several case studies from his team at Plug-in Media with be reviewed in detail, including Extreme Pamplona (Sure for Men), Nev's Jambuster (BBC) and LunarLander3D


To keep the price down, we ask that you bring your own laptop. You will receive course materials and further instructions shortly before the course starts. 

Venue is the gorgeous Fazeley Studios in Birmingham. Lunch will be provided.
